the fountain pen decorated to resemble birch bark, the clip decorated with a band of diamonds framed with a sparkly black enamel border, fully hallmarked, the rose-gold nib marked for 14ct gold; the biro decorated with a wavy pattern, the clip set with a band of diamonds on an opaque black enamel ground with initials 'BM' in gold, fully hallmarked,

The partnership of McCabe McCarty was formed in 1973 by David McCarty, who began his career as a goldsmith in 1959 at Wright & Davis, Cartier’s goldsmithing workshop; and engraver Peter McCabe. The pair would become well-known for commissioned works for other established firms such as Asprey, as well as their own inventive and bespoke creations, most notable of which was a jewelled gold and enamel serpent clock which took over 2,200-man hours to make and incorporated 600 diamonds, earning them the Jacques Cartier Memorial Award in 1980.
