The Favier family was one of the most renowned goldsmithing houses in Lyon during the 19th century. Two brothers opened the first workshop in 1824, primarily producing religious pieces; more than 150 of these have been recorded in Lyon and the surrounding area. The family also expanded into Paris and Toulouse. The last generation of Favier goldsmiths closed the workshop in 1976.
