of oval form with foliate scroll handles heightened in blue, decorated ‘a galli rossi’ in iron-red and gilding with four vignettes of cockerels in chinoiserie landscapes above a wave-moulded turquoise border, the upper rim with pendant moulded water motifs in turquoise

Two forms of glass cooler were made at Doccia. The present lot is an example of the rarer form, distinguished by a bombé shape, wave-moulded borders and rocaille shells and water motifs to the rim, as opposed to the more typical oval shape with a simple scroll handle at each end.
