the thirty-two plate iron bowl with standing rivets and raised ridges, copper-gilt and shakudo five tier tehen kanamono shaped as a stylised chrysanthemum flowerhead, russet iron mabisashi [peak] with copper fukurin, the stenciled Dutch leather fukigaeshi [turnbacks] applied with copper-gilt kiri mon [paulownia crests], the two-tiered shikoro [neck guard] of black lacquer with sugake odoshi [spaced lacing] in dark blue braid, gilt-metal kuwagata, the kuwagata-dai pierced, chased and engraved with foliate scrolls and applied with further kiri mon, the copper-gilt maedate [forecrest] in the form of three ascending pine trees 


The shikoro to peak: 36 cm., 14⅛ in.
