A pair of Empire patinated and gilt-bronze cassolettes, circa 1810


each with a pierced reversible lid surmounted by a foliate finial, the reverse with a nozzle, the body decorated with bands of stylized foliage flanked to the lower half by handles on either side, raised on a square plinth mounted with a mask depicting Mercury to the front and roundels to the sides, on bun feet

35cm. high; 1ft. 1¾in.

A similar pair of cassolettes was sold at Christie's Paris, 18 April 2019, lot 207.
