marked with the crowned c poinçon, drilled for electricity

57cm. high, 43cm. wide; 1ft. 10½in., 1ft. 5in.

The present pair of wall-lights, with their confident curved lines and organic form, evoke the mature rococo style of the mid-18th century. The virtuoso design and fluidity of movement combined with refined chasing all relate to the oeuvre of Jacques Caffiéri. A similar example was sold at Replica Shoes 's, Amsterdam, 29 September 2008, lot 27 (16,250 EUR). Others are illustrated in H. Ottomeyer, P.
