Love is officially in the air this February. 

Say what you will about Valentine’s Day and capitalism (I totally hear you), but in my heart-shaped eyes, anything to look forward to at this time of year can only be a good thing.

And you’re right, celebrating romantic love can feel a bit exclusive, but celebrating love for your friends, your family, your pets or even yourself is not. 

We could be mad about many things, but celebrating relationships isn’t one of them, I don’t think.

Funny Woman

As they say ‘when you know, you know’ and when I saw the advert for Funny Woman, I just knew. Sometimes, you don’t even have to watch the first five minutes before you realise a TV show is going to be the one for you.

Set in the 60s and adapted from Nick Hornby’s 2014 novel, Funny Girl, the series has it all: great costumes, great actors and a great script. If comfort TV is what you’re after this February, then look no further than this.

Full-Length Trousers 

When I was in my 20s, you wouldn’t have caught me with the bottom of my trousers below my ankles.

We’d just got through the skinny jeans era (yeah, I’ve heard skinny jeans are making a comeback, but I’ll leave that rant for another day), but ankle swingers were still all the rage if you could see my socks then I was happy.

Fast forward to 2023 and I’m beginning to introduce some full-length trousers, even jeans, into my wardrobe and I’m not mad about it. Best of all, I don’t have to worry about finding matching socks.

These ‘Straight full-length jeans’ from Other Stories have got me daydreaming about them; I’d be pairing them with some New Balance for a laid-back weekend look.

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

I’ve just finished reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. I had high expectations considering it’s been notoriously compared to A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Although it was a great read, I can’t say I felt as deeply connected to the characters as I did when I was reading A Little Life.

However, I’m excited to hear it’s being made into a film and I would say it’s worth a read, if you get the chance, before then.
