Mango Sizing Does Mango Run Small, Large or True to Size?
We tried out Mango for size and this is what we found.
Wondering whether Mango runs small, big or true to size? Mango is one of my favourite brands, and as a long-time shopper there, I’m sharing everything you need to know about which their sizing so you don’t make the same mistakes I did.
If you’re shopping at Mango for the first time in a while and don’t have the chance to pop to the shop to try something on IRL, it’s always handy to have a look at what people are saying about the brand’s sizing online.
I’m a big, big fan of the brand. After forgetting about it for a few years, I fell in love with it again in recent years and now it’s one of my go-tos. Their jeans are some of the best on the high street, and if you’re looking for an affordable wedding guest dress, they have plenty.
Their sizing can be confusing though. I recently bought a checkerboard top in size M that feels tiny, while other size M pieces are huge on me. So what gives? Now I’ve become a regular shopper at Mango, I’ve learnt more about how best to shop for the right sizes.
It’s always better to try before you buy or to buy a couple of sizes if you’re shopping online. It can be expensive to do though, as well as time consuming. So I did it for you. I went into the Mango store and tried on a few different items, so I could tell you first-hand how their sizing fit.

Does Mango’s sizing come up small?
Mango’s sizing can vary, so I’ve broken it down into different sections to make it a little easier for you.
I tend to buy size medium at Zara, and while Zara’s sizing can be confusing, I tried on mostly size medium at Mango too. My hips are on the bigger side and I’m definitely smaller up top. I’m a UK size 10 and 5″7 in height, so whether you’re a similar shape or not, hopefully my experience will help you gauge how their sizing runs.
Dresses
I tried on this blue dress in a size medium. I’m usually a size 10, and this felt a little roomy but as you can see, that is the style. I wouldn’t have wanted it any tighter!

Next, I tried on this red dress in size medium. This felt a little bit too big for me, especially around the chest area (although I am small-chested, so that makes sense!). I could afford to go down to a size S in this for sure, and perhaps the blue style above too.

So in conclusion, I’d say Mango’s dresses run on the roomy side. You can definitely get away with wearing some Mango dresses oversized, but if you want a tighter fit, I’d recommend going down a size. As always, it’s about trial and error.
Trousers
Next, I tried these gorgeous linen trousers on in a size M, and they were pretty loose-fitting. So was the matching waistcoat.

Then I tried on another suit, this time in a size S as that was all they had available. I was surprised to find they fit me pretty well, although I wouldn’t say it was comfortable getting them on…more a shuffling situation than an easy zip-up. These had a elasticated band at the back, so perhaps that was why!

I’d say that their trousers run on the looser-fitting side too. I could afford to get a size S, so if you’re around an 8-10, I’d definitely recommend going for a size small.
Jackets
Many say that Mango jackets come up small, but this was a size S and fit really well. So if you’re a size 6-8, you probably need an XS. In my experience, they’re true to size.
Tops

Next, I tried on this crochet blouse in a size M. Again this was on the roomy side; I could definitely have sized down.
When it comes to tops that are supposed to be tight-fitting, such as roll neck tops, it’s definitely worth going into the store and trying them on. As I’ve said, some tops can feel way too big, while others are super tight. I’ve bought three second skin tops from Mango in the past, and two were really loose, while the third was super small.
Skirts
I find Mango’s skirts on the small side in terms of length, but they usually fit around the waist correctly. In my experience, they’re true to size.
Coats
It’s always a good idea to buy bigger sizes in outerwear at Mango, but also from any brand. Usually you’ll want to layer knits under your coats, so it’s good to have room under your coat to do so.
Mango’s tend to fit true to size, but it depends on the style you’re trying on and the fit you want to achieve. If I was buying online, I’d buy my usual size.
Jumpers
Mango’s jumpers run quite small according to Mumsnet users. They recommend sizing up.
Jeans
It depends entirely on what you’re buying. I tried on a few pairs of jeans and all of them felt super tight in my regular size; I couldn’t even get them on to take pictures!
Fashion and Beauty Writer Rosa also tried on the brand’s jeans for size. Here’s her verdict:
I found the sizing to be extremely small, and very inconsistent. The general pattern is that baggier/more roomy styles seemed to fit fine in the size above my usual (for example, their Culotte style jeans pictured below). However, as a 5ft9 girl, they were extremely short and ankle swinger-esque.

I also tried on the Mom style in my usual size but I couldn’t get these past my thighs. Even the size above were extremely tight and uncomfortable around the waist and thighs. Plus, they were even shorter than the Culotte style, so definitely a no from me.
Next up, were the Straight style jeans (below). Same kind of situation in that my usual size didn’t fit so I had to size up. They were still snug around the thighs which was a shame as they were quite a nice length (finally!).

My conclusion
Daisy says, “As a size 10, it looks like I’m more a size S than a size M at Mango. But at other brands like Zara, I’m definitely a size M. I’d say Mango tends up be more on the roomy side, but some items will catch you off guard! If I was buying online, I’d stick to my regular size.”
On Mango jeans, Rosa says, “My overall advice? Size up at least one size, maybe two if you are curvier. Also, if you’re taller than around 5ft6, you may find the styles to be too short.”
Some brands have a review section of their items, where customers can rate items on their fit and quality but sadly Mango isn’t one of them.
Should I size up in Mango?
Generally, no – stick to your real size. Most of Mango’s items are pretty true to size, but if you’re buying jeans, it might be worth sizing up or ordering a couple of sizes if ordering online.
What is size M in Mango?
Size M is measured as 36.22in on the bust, 28.35in on the waist and 39.37in on the hips. You can see the exact measurements of all the sizes on Mango’s size guide, as well as a guide for how to measure yourself.
What size is extra large in Mango?
According to Mango’s size chart, a size XL is equivalent to a US size 12-14. However, based on customer reviews, it seems to run large. It might be a good idea to size down, especially if you’re looking for a slightly oversized fit.
Zara vs Mango sizes
Zara has often been called out for its sizes running small. Compared to Zara, Mango definitely fits better in my personal opinion. I know it’s not ideal, but as I’ve said before I really recommend trying before you buy to avoid this being an issue.
What size do Mango models wear?
Mango doesn’t state what sizes their models wear, so any suggestions would be guess work. While it could be assumed they’re wearing size small, items are often clipped to look as good as possible so judging a product on the way it fits a model isn’t really a reliable way of gauging size.
Mango size guide
You can see Mango’s detailed size guide on the brand’s website. Here the brand goes through every item they sell, from shoes to clothes like jumpsuits, coats and dresses, and offers detailed measurements to help shopping from the brand be easier.
I hope this was helpful! Next, read more about Zara’s sizing, Other Stories’ sizing and H&M’s sizing.
Are Mango shoes true to size?
Yes, you can trust Mango’s shoe sizing! The information suggests their shoes run true to size. This means you can order your usual shoe size with confidence and expect a good fit.
Is Mango owned by Zara?
As both Mango and Zara are Spanish-owned companies, you’d be forgiven for thinking that they were owned by the same companies. In actual fact, Zara is owned by Inditex, while Mango is owned by brothers Isak Andic and Nahman Andic.
As well as Zara, Inditex also owns Bershka, Stradivarius, Massimo Dutti, Pull&Bear and Oysho.
