S otheby’s presents the April edition of Contemporary Curated in London. Guest curated by Russell Tovey, British actor turned collects or, curator, podcast host and ‘art geek’, the sale brings together a diverse roster of established artists alongside lesser-known names: from Damien Hirst, Yoshitomo Nara, Wolfgang Tillmans and Andy Warhol to Shirazeh Houshiary, Jon Rafman and Katharina Fritsch.
The auction includes an exciting selection of works from a prominent London-based collects or, whose passion for and fascination with the male anatomy has shaped this cutting-edge collects ion. From Robert Mapplethorpe to Wolfgang Tillmans, the collects ion brings together the most important photographers of eroticism and the male form from the past half century. The collects ion features the auction debut of American artist Bastille, whose work is deeply inspired by Tom of Finland’s ground-breaking erotic illustrations.
