MOLTEN

Circa 1996

Offered in this lot is a basketball signed by players and coaches of the 1996 United States Men’s Olympic Basketball Team, the group that represented the U.S. at the Atlanta Summer Games. Often referred to as “Dream Team III,” the roster reflected the next phase of USA Basketball, combining experienced Olympians with established NBA stars.

The team was led by veterans such as Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley, both returning from the 1992 Olympic squad. Pippen played a central role, contributing across defense, playmaking, and leadership, while Barkley provided continuity between the original Dream Team and the mid-1990s generation of NBA talent.

They were joined by a deep roster that included Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, David Robinson, Mitch Richmond, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Shaquille O’Neal, Gary Payton, and Hakeem Olajuwon. Under the guidance of head coach Lenny Wilkens, the team blended experience and cohesion throughout the tournament.

The United States won all eight games in Atlanta to secure the gold medal. Signed by members of this Olympic roster, the basketball represents a key moment in the continued dominance of U.S. basketball on the international stage.

Signed by Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, David Robinson, Mitch Richmond, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Shaquille O’Neal, Gary Payton, and Hakeem Olajuwon, this basketball comes directly from the Collection of Scottie Pippen.

The basketball is also accompanied by a letter from James Spence Authentication in regards to the signatures.
