L. Hainz is a family business founded in Prague by watchmaker Ludvík Hainz in 1836. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire up until World War II, L. Hainz was considered the leading maker and retailer of chronometers and watches in Prague.

The Cold War period saw the business being confiscated by the communist regime that also incarcerated some members of the family. The company was finally returned to the heirs of the original owners in the 1990s.

Today, L. Hainz manufactures and restores clocks using 19th-century-old techniques, and they continue the tradition of being responsible for the renovation and maintenance of roughly 80 clocks in Prague, including the Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square.
