The Reference 2442, produced from 1948 to around 1960, is aptly named Marilyn Monroe by collects ors for its voluptuous proportions. A daring design at the t.mes , it was a prelude to the fancy shaped watches that would go on to defined the 1950s-60s.

Crafted in yellow or pink gold and platinum by Markowski, the present 2442 belongs to an even rarer subset of less than a handful of known examples that bear the S&L stamp, indicating it was retailed by Serpico y Laino. While no longer in operation, Serpico y Laino remains one of the biggest names in vintage watch collects ing as it was the leading retailer in Caracas, Venezuela, with double signed examples appearing on some of the most important watches to ever come to market.

At the heart of the 2442 beats the renown caliber 9-90, famous for powering other iconic Patek Philippe creations of the t.mes period such as the Ref 1450 Top Hat or the Ref 2517.

Instantly recognizable with its curvaceous silhouette and supple edges, the present 2442 is further distinguished by its original gold buckle and presentation box, both doubly signed by the maker and the retailer.
