the first, rectangular, the lid decorated with two bands of sapphires within reeded borders, on a polished gold ground, small sapphire pushpiece, the interior of the lid set with a mirror, maker’s mark in a vertical lozenge, serial number: 62448, further struck: ‘750’, post-1918 French eagle’s head control mark; the second, rectangular with rounded corners and waisted sides, the lid centred with an engraved flower bouquet in an interlaced scrollwork frame, on diaper engine-turned ground, scrolls to each corner, the sides and base decorated with alternating bands of different engine-turning; small bow-shaped thumbpiece; cross mark of the civil order of Savoy
