Description
Very Very Old Fitzgerald 12 Year Old 100 Proof 1965
Distilled in Fall 1965, bottled in Fall 1977 at Stitzel-Weller Distillery, shoulder label peeling, front label slightly worn and scuffed, back label very slightly peeling
Old Fitzgerald was the flagship brand of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery, led by Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle. The whiskey came in a variety of ages, and in 1964, the same year he retired and a year before he died, Van Winkle changed the name on the whiskeys 12 years and older to Very Very Old Fitzgerald. The 12-year-old in particular is widely considered one of the greatest wheated bourbons ever produced, especially those bottled in the mid-1960s to 70s, such as this one.
