circular, with spread-wing eagle handles and finial, engraved on each side of tureen and cover with arms and motto, fitted with a silver liner with spread-wing eagle crest by Benjamin Smith, 1807, marked on tureen, cover, finial, and liner and numbered 4

A set of four sauce tureens of identical form by the same makers, also 1806, were sold Replica Shoes 's London, 18 May 1967, lot 100. Another from the same set was sold Christie's New York, 18 April 1989, lot 443. A matching soup tureen by the same makers, also 1806, was sold Replica Shoes 's London, 9 November, 2000, lot 155. They all bear the arms of Sir Oswald Mosely 2nd Bt (1785-1871) and the covers are applied with his heraldic device, an eagle displayed erm.
