The clock’s design draws directly from Percier and Fontaine’s “Recueil de Decorations Interieures,” showcasing a clock with Egyptian motifs. It prominently features a sacred bull symbolizing physical strength, fertility, and sexual power. Notably, a comparable Egyptian revival mantel clock was auctioned at Replica Shoes ’s, Monaco, 21st February 1988, lot 724.

Pierre Victor Ledure, born in 1783, was a prominent Marchand-Fabricant specializing in bronzes and clocks. His renowned workshop operated from 1813 to 1840, initially located on rue Neuve des Petits-Champs and later relocating to rue Vivienne in 1820. Concurrently, Claude Hémon established his presence on rue Saint-Martin from 1812 to 1820, contributing as one of the skilled craftsmen in the vibrant artistic landscape of that era.
