A reprint of the Aldine Caesar, but now accompanied by the commentary of Paolo Manuzio. The binding was probably made in London by Chatelin, who worked there between 1852 and 1881, binding many works for French exiles in England.
8vo (155 x 97 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: a-b8 A-Z8 Aa-Rr8: 336 leaves. Woodcut Aldine device on title- page, 2 double-page woodcut maps, full-page woodcut illustrations, woodcut initials.
binding: Crushed navy morocco gilt in period fanfare style by Antoine Chatelin with monogram of Robert d'Orléans (161 x 103 mm), spine gilt in compartments, gilt edges, crushed red morocco doublures.
