Bordone's atlas of the islands of both Europe and the New World was first printed in 1528; this is the first and only Aldine edition, printed for Federico Torresano. The woodblocks are from the 1534 edition printed by Niccolò Zoppino.


Folio (298 x 207 mm). Roman type, 43 lines plus headline. collation: AA4 BB6 A-D6 E4 F2 G-M6 N8: 84 leaves. Title printed in red and black within large woodcut cartouche, woodcut Torresano device on title-page, woodcut maps (including four double-page maps), woodcut initials. (Small stain at head of first few leaves, small repair to a section of the title-page cartouche, small hole at foot of AA2, repaired tear to M6.)


binding: Eighteenth-century half vellum over marbled boards (304 x 217 mm), blue edges. (Board edges slightly rubbed.)
