Renowned for his animal sculpture in bronze, Sandoz was also noted as a ceramicist. Due to a shortage of working materials during the First World War, the sculptor returned to his early passion for ceramics, collaborating with the Limoges porcelain manufacturer Théodore Haviland on a playful range of tableware.
