Nike

In 2006 Nike tapped into the memories of consumers by releasing a Nike SB Dunk with a color palette inspired by fictional Mayor H.R. Pufnstuf. Running from the late 60s to early 70s, H.R. Pufnstuf was a children's television show featuring bold colors, exaggerated characters, and fantastical sets - cementing a cult status within its genre. 

Nike SB, acting on this strong sense of nostalgia, modeled this 2006 Nike SB Dunk off the same colors as the dragon mayor H.R. Pufnstuf. The suede sneaker shows blocks of color which are nods to the main character - the red heel resembling his hair, yellow panels representing his skin, and green as his clothes. Lastly, the vivid blue Swoosh draws inspiration from the mayoral ribbon sported across H.R. Pufnstuf’s chest.
