Letter signed ("Bonaparte" with flourish), as "Général in Chef de l'Armeé d'Italie," to General Chabot in Modena, Montebello, [23 June 1800]


1 page (to sight: 284 x 216 mm) address panel on back, large engraved allegorical figure of the French Republic holding a quill in one hand, and a crown of olive branches in the other, text in French; old folds, some light spotting, a few unobtrusive closed tears. Handsomely matted, framed, and glazed in Plexiglass together with an engraved portrait. Not examined out of frame. 


Following his victories in the Battle of Montebello and Marengo on June 9th and 14th, Napoleon, as Commander in Chief of the Army of Italy, writes to acknowledges receipt of an unspecified communication from General Chabot, who was commanding a division stationed at Modena.
