A jewelled gold and mother of pearl carnet de bal, in mid-18th century style, 19th century


of upright rectangular form, both sides formed of carved mother of pearl panels applied with chased gold rocaille ornaments set with emeralds and rubies and hung with floral garlands, gold spine and ruby-topped gold pencil, silk-lined interior, one of the pages containing a printed coat-of-arms for Bernard Franck, unmarked apart from later post-1918 French eagle’s head control mark
