A George III silver salver, Richard Rugg, London, 1780

The arms are those of Ficklin impaling Mackintosh for Philip Berney Ficklin (3 October 1849 – 31 October 1917), a solicitor, of Tashburgh Hall, Norfolk, son of the Rev. Philip Utton Brown (1813-1890) and his wife, Mary Horatia Russell (née Ficklin, 1821-1896). He assumed the name and arms of Ficklin by Royal Licence dated 28 November 1888, under the will of his great uncle, Thomas John Ficklin (1796-1888) of Linton, Cambridgeshire. Mr. Ficklin was married at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Glasgow, on 18 July 1888 to Janet Margaret Tennant ‘Rita’ (11 December 1862 – 23 June 1921), only child of Dr. Alexander Mackintosh of Woodside Place, Glasgow, and his wife, Janet (née Tennent)
