A Pair of Louis XVI Carved Giltwood Fauteuils a la Reine and Matching Bergère, Stamped C. Chevigny, Last Quarter 18th Century

Claude Chevigny, maître in 1786

Each fauteuil with arched backrest upholstered at the center, the frame carved with leaf-tips beading, the top rail centered by ribbon-tied flowerheads, the arms with padded armrests with acanthus-carved terminals on downswept fluted and acanthus-carved supports, the bow-fronted seat with beaded and leaf-tip-carved seat rails, raised on turned tapered fluted legs; the bergere with rectangular backrest, the frame carved to match the fauteuils, also with padded arms on downswept fluted and acanthus-carved supports, and with matching straight-fronted seat, and turned tapered fluted legs.
