painted, in the manner of J. G. Höroldt, with figures at various pursuits in gardens, within concentric circles in iron-red, the teabowl with a continuous scene, the interior with a diaper medallion reserving flowerheads, the underside of the saucers with branches of indianische Blumen, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, gilt letter H., incised Dreher's mark / to inside edges of saucers

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
