A Roman Marble Head of a Youth

circa 2nd Century A.D., or later, on 17th/18th Century shoulders


turned to his left, with parted lips and almond-shaped eyes, his hair radiating from the crown, bound in a fillet knotted in back, and falling in long curls over the ears and in centrally parted locks over the forehead, the bust wearing a tunic, corslet, and fringed mantle clasped on the right shoulder, the fibula decorated with a rosette in relief; chin and front of nose restored.

Total height 48 cm.; Height of head 14.5 cm.
