An Egyptian Limestone Sphinx of a Ptolemaic King, Ptolemaic Period, probably reign of Ptolemy II, 285-246 B.C.


recumbent on an high rectangular base with the tail curled around the right hindquarter, the youthful face with finely carved almond-shaped eyes, and wearing a broad beaded collar and the nemes headcloth with uraeus and queue, the base with remnants of an inscription in front.
