Since 1956, the Day-Date has been a proud ambassador of the elite way of life, adorning the wrists of presidents, artists, and personalities the world around. The model underwent a funky update in the 1970s, with the release of new highly colorful dials. Coated with a glossy lacquer and boasting a wide range of colors from pink, orange, light blue and much more, these watches were initially targeted at the Middle-East markets, yet did not convince the markets at the time. Fast forward to 2020, the collectability of the Stella dialed Day-Dates has sky-rocketed, with less and less quality examples available on the market.

The present yellow gold Stella Day-Date is fitted with probably one of the most discrete Stella dials if such a thing exists. The deep red dial is nickmamed “Oxblood” or “Sangui di Bue” and stands in very good condition. The lacquer finish works its magic equally as well with pastel colors as it enhances the presence of darker colors, such as on the present lot. This rare and highly sought-after timepiece would be a sound addition to any Rolex treasure hunter.
