Rolex introduced the Datejust in 1945 as the first chronometer water-tight wristwatch with an automatic calendar. The Datejust reference 1601 was introduced in 1959 as a variant of the 1600 with a reeded bezel.
The present example was manufactured in 1977 and features a rare and delightful brown dial, creating a perfect blend with the yellow gold Oyster case and Jubilé bracelet. The watch is powered by the later caliber 1575, stamped 1570 and featuring a stop seconds feature.
