As Patek Philippe's reputation spread in America, the firm developed special relationships with high-end retailers throughout the country. They made custom dials and movements bearing the name and location of each retailer, as seen on the present lot.
Bailey, Banks and Biddle was a very prestigious and well-known jewellery retailer that was established in Philadelphia in 1832. They were once commissioned by the United States Government to update the Great Seal of the United States, which is still in use today, as well as a series of designs for important honorary military medals.
