A LARGE THEODORE DECK IZNIK-STYLE POTTERY DISH WITH ROSETTES AND HYACINTHS, FRANCE, 19TH CENTURY


glazed earthenware painted in an underglaze cobalt blue ground, green, manganese, turquoise and black outlined design featuring a central rosette with Chinoiserie motif, rosette and hyacinth stems, floral details on rim, the underside with tulip and rosette motifs, impressed 'TH DECK' in red, with two drill holes


50cm. diam. 

This dish is modelled after an exceptional Iznik dish now in Musée du Louvre (inv. no.6643), dated 1550-55 (see Atasoy & Raby 1989, fig.363, p.206).
