Description

Very Old Fitzgerald 8 Year Old Bottled In Bond 100 Proof 1964

Distilled in Spring 1964, bottled in Spring 1972, Maryland tax stamp adhered to the shoulder of bottle, tax strip slightly peeling, front label slightly scuffed, nicked and stained, back label slightly nicked towards the bottom

Distilled in the Spring of 1964, this bottle represents the pinnacle of the Van Winkle era at Stitzel-Weller. It is everything that the company’s president, Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle, wanted out of a bourbon: a wheated mashbill, 100 proof, and almost a decade in age. This may have been one of Van Winkle's last bottlings - he retired in 1964 and died in 1965.
