Description

A Higo wakizashi koshirae [sword mount]

Edo period, 19th century  

 

the ribbed red and black lacquer saya mounted with a brass Higo mokko-gata tsuba, the leather covered tsuka and menuki in the form of feather brushes (habotsuki), the copper kozuka with hatchet on mokume

 

Overall length: 66.7 cm., 26¼ in.

Overall sori: 2 cm., ¾ in.

Tsuka length: 15 cm., 6 in.

Tsuka sori: 0.2 cm., ⅛ in.

Saya length: 51.8 cm., 20⅜ in.

Saya sori: 1.2 cm., ⅜ in.

 

Accompanied by a certificate of registration as Juyo Tosogu [Important Sword Fitting], no. 9701 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword], dated Heisei 6 (1994).
