According to documents, the first Jews came to Khansar in the time of Cyrus the Great; the Jewish quarter is described as being over 2000 years old.   Hacham Uriel Davidi (1922-2006), the Chief Rabbi of Iran from 1980 to 1986, was born in Khansar. However, most Jews left the city before the Iranian revolution in 1979.
