Il Ponte, Milan, 29-30 October 2003, lot 775;

Sotheby’s, London, English and Continental Furniture, 8 June 2005, lot 110.

Of similar inspiration with a trelliswork cresting, a related mirror by Antonio Vernieri, circa 1739 is in the Rocca di Soragna (illustrated in Enrico Colle, Il Mobile Rococo in Italia, Milan, 2003, pp. 306-307, no. 72). The treatment of the drapery, acanthus and bellflowers all strongly suggest an attribution to this maker. It is worth mentioning as well a design for an overmantel by Vernieri in the Museo Lombardi, Parma (Colle, op. cit., illustrates, p. 306).
