rectangular, both sides decorated with a mother-of-pearl cartouche decorated with a vase of enamelled fruit, painted tulips and other flowers with green basse-taille enamel leaves, framed with pierced gold foliate borders and rocailles on a blond tortoiseshell ground, gold borders and a chased floral spine, the silk-lined interior fitted with a gold pencil, French prestige marks including maker's mark for Mailly, discharge mark of Charles Cordier (1722-26),
