Morkuti depicts Lord Krishna playing his bansuri flute whilst peacocks dance to his tune and celestials ride in their aerial chariots above. The scene takes place during Varsha the monsoon season, when the peacocks court the peahens along the banks of the Yamuna river, symbolising Krishna and his beloved Radha.

A similar pichhavai with peacocks and peahens is illustrated in S.C. Welch, A Flower from Every Meadow, 1973, no.12.
