An American Silver Cann, Joseph Goldthwait, Boston, 1730-35


Of wide pear form on raised foot, scroll handle springing from a drop, the front engraved with baroque scrollwork cartouche enclosing a lion couchant gardant holding a British naval flag, the base engraved 11 oz. (original weight), marked with crowned initials with pellet between and device below, within shield, at right of handle and on bottom.
