rectangular with cut corners, the lid later set with an enamel plaque painted with a view of Topkapi Palace along the Bosphorus Strait, framed with opaque turquoise taille d'épargne enamel borders flanking a translucent red enamel band, the sides similarly decorated around vignettes of a rustic bridge, ruins and a harbour, the angles enamelled with sprays of flowers, the base similarly later decorated with a corresponding view, maker's mark, Paris 2e titre 1809-1819, the rim numbered 368,
