drop-shaped, the hinged lid enamelled en plein with an Italianate scene of travellers on a waterfront, the top painted with pink roses, within blue, white and black taille d'épargne enamel borders of stylised fan motifs, the sides and base enamelled in translucent blue over engine-turning with pale blue dividers, matching scent bottle cap, maker's mark crowned I.F./I.H. incuse above crossed laurels, French mark for foreign works 1798-1809, later struck with two French post-1864 import marks for gold, in a modern leather case,
