rectangular with rounded corners, the lid later applied with an enamel plaque painted after François Boucher's Les Amans Surpris, in a chased acorn frame, surrounded by chased floral foliage on a sablé ground, the sides and base decorated with wavy gold paillons on a dark blue enamel ground, within opaque black enamel borders and a foliate tulip frame to base, the interior of the lid later engraved with a presentation inscription reading The Members / of the Court of Guardians/ LYNN / to J. P Blencowe Esq. / 1831, maker’s mark SC in a vertical lozenge,
