Overall measurements: 179cm across the top, 181cm across the bottom, 376cm the left hand side, 377cm the right hand side. Pile generally low to knotbars, spot foundation visible. Areas of restoration and reconstruction in the borders. Plain red surround and outer guard mainly rebuilt with fingers of restoration primarily into the three central green sceptres and with cobbled repairs in the other two. On the right hand side the fourth, sixth, eight and ninth sceptre heads are largely repaired. On the left hand side five, six, seven, eight and nine appear to also be largely rebuilt together with the associated outer guard. The upper outermost surround and end guard rebuilt. Scattered repairs throughout and three reweaves in the central medallion, irregularly shaped - largest approx. 15 by 12cm. The repairs are generally well executed and the integrity of the design is retained. Areas of repiling throughout field. Drawing of border and field is generous and spacious. Whilst clearly this piece has had restoration in the past it is a rare type and highly decorative. The restorations do not detract from its overall appearance.
