• early movement richly decorated with foliage, steel circular foliot with balance cock richly decorated, regulating system to the side, two hammers richly decorated with floral motifs, winding mechanism indicated by an engraving of a G for 'Gang' and similar for repeating mechanism by S for 'Stunde' or V for 'Viertel', all indications in German, striking mechanism for quarters and hours is below the dial, back plate of the movement signed in the centre Jeremias Pfaff • gilt brass dial richly decorated on the edge with floral motifs, the centre graduated with an inner circle indicating the hours in Roman numerals and the outer ring indicating the minutes in Arabic numerals, quarters are also indicated in Roman numerals from I to III, blued steel hands • modern wooden case made in the style and manner of the period with four gilt brass mounted feet, glass to the edges allows one to see the movement from a side view showing the barrels and richly decorated work to some of the plates on the movement • movement signed Jeremia Pfaff

Jeremias Pfaff I was born in Augsburg circa 1618, a member of a dynasty of clockmakers. His son Jeremias II, born in 1651, became a master clockmaker in Augsburg in the year of his father's death.
