the pear-shaped body with elegantly tapering and rounded sides rising to a wide flaring and everted rim, supported on high splayed foot angled to a straight foot ring, minimally decorated with a single narrow frieze of two pairs of confronting long-tailed birds against a leiwen ground, centered on two raised bovine masks, a single raised filet below and further pair of bow-strings around the base, a seven-character inscription Ding Ding fu zu bao zun yi'on the interior floor, the mottled olive-green patina with extensive encrustation on the interior of the mouth and along the base, with wood stand (2)

Condition
A large diagonal section of the body replaced. There are restored breaks to the foot and there are an approximately 1 1/2 inch and 1/2 inch sections of the rim and a roughly 4 inch section of base with chips and losses from bronze disease, now stabilized.

The elegant form of this particular vessel is emphasized by the minimal decoration. The earlier rendition of this form features a narrow frieze cast around the vessel's waist but the subtle shift of the band to the neck allows for a more exaggerated S-curve profile.
