The vase is slightly tilted to one side. Chip to two lobes of the mouth, as well as the base of the neck have been restored. An area at the ridge below the bulge (approx. 5 cm long) has also been restored.

河南省禹州，早期稱鈞州，其所出產天青色釉瓷器，以其豐厚的釉料及濃郁的色澤而聞名。此件拍品除極美的湛藍色，其優雅的圓柱形及花口亦是極為罕有。由於燒製上的困難，鈞窑瓷器多為器形較小的實用型器皿。著錄中此類器形、大小之例僅有另兩件，一件曾展於《歷代文物萃珍:敏求精舍三十週年紀念展》，香港藝術館，香港，1990-1991年，圖錄品號101，亦曾展於《關氏所藏宋代陶瓷》特展，香港藝術館，1994年，圖錄品號 39，後售於倫敦蘇富比2003年11月12日，拍品編號50。另一件是燒製瑕疵作例，為George Eumoforpulos所藏，錄於R. L. Hobson著《Catalogue of the Chinese, Corean and Persian Pottery and Porcelain》卷3，倫敦，1926年，圖版, pl. X，品號C33。另有一相似器形更高之晉代作例，售於紐約蘇富比2006年9月21日，拍品編號104。

其他窑廠在北宋及晉朝亦有燒製相仿作品。有一件北宋青白釉橢圓形花口瓶，錄於《宋磁》，東武美術館，東京，1999年，圖錄編號98。另一件青白釉作例，錄於John Ayers著《The Baur collects ion》卷1，日內瓦，1968，圖版A123。一件耀州窑廠起出作例，錄於《Shaanxi Tongchuan Yaozhou Kiln Porcelain》，山西，1992年。
