Which colours will be trending in Autumn Winter 2023?

Viva Magenta

Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2023 is Viva Magenta. The shade sits between red and purple, and as we’re still embracing all things Barbie, you can expect this to last through to the winter. In fact, pink was huge in 2022 after it was all over the Valentino runway and also spotted on stars like Kim Kardashian, Lizzo, Megan Fox and of course, Margot Robbie. TLDR: expect to see much more pink.

Lovely Lavender

Another colour we keep seeing for 2023 is lavender. WGSN named it their Colour of the Year for 2023, adding that the gender-neutral hue evokes ‘calmness and serenity’ and represents ‘wellness and digital escapism’. Sign me up!

Luscious Red

Various iterations of red appeared on Pantone’s Fashion Colour Trend reports for both London and New York spring summer 2023 Fashion Weeks, and WGSN’s colour report for the year ahead. It’s one of – if not the biggest colour trend for AW23 too, so whether you prefer a bright, tomato red, or a deep, rich red, you’re going to be embracing it.

Sage Leaf

WGSN named this ‘quiet and settling green’ as one of the key colours for AW23 and added that it offers a ‘sense of contemplation, rest and reflection.’ It’s a dark yet warm shade of green, that lends itself really well to winter staples.

The colour experts add, “This soft green is suitable for all fashion categories with a focus on elevated utility, better basics and smart separates. Applying it to faux furs, soft knits, brushed jersey, velvets and stone washed linen will instil comfort.”

Galactic Cobalt

Last but not least is Galactic Cobalt, another shade named by WGSN as one of the season’s key colours to look out for. This blue was spotted at Fendi, Altuzzara, A.W.A.K.E. Mode and many more, and the colour experts believe this ‘dyanmic and influential’ blue will inspire shoppers as it connects to ‘escapism and extended reality’.
