Best Zara Jeans 2024, How They Fit & Our Review of Marine Straight, Mom Jeans & More

I tried 5 pairs and this is what I found.

Zara offers some of the best jeans on the high street. To prove it, I tried on 5 pairs of the brand’s bestselling jeans and I’m sharing what I thought right here. I know most people ditched their jeans during the pandemic, but I was one of the very few to still enjoy wearing mine. People say they’re uncomfortable, but a pair of well-fitting jeans make me feel supported in all the right places. That and the fact I’ve been embracing looser fits has meant my love affair with denim hasn’t dipped.

I’ve been shopping denim from Zara for as long as I can remember. They’re not right for everybody, but they work for my body shape perfectly. Can we also talk about their incredible selection? Whether you’re looking for a long-lasting and versatile pair of relaxed light wash jeans or a pair with a bold print, there’s so much to choose from.

Fortunately, Zara jeans seem to last a long time despite being much more affordable than premium denim brands — definitely under the usual £150 mark for premium brand jeans. Of course, I recommend taking good care of them and not washing them too often. You can also read more about how to care for your denim to ensure it has a long life and you get more bang for your buck.

The Spanish label is also offering an abundance of wide-leg, paper bag, flared and mom jeans, so if you’re a jeans hater, you’ll be swayed by how comfortable they are.

Do Zara have good jeans?

Absolutely, but with a small caveat about the sizing. As someone who’s tried on more pairs than I can count, Zara really does have some gems in their denim collection. They offer a variety of styles that cater to just about any look you’re going for, from classic skinnies to on-trend wide legs.

The thing about Zara jeans is that they’re surprisingly durable for their price point. You won’t be breaking the bank, and with the right care, these jeans can last you a long time.

However, it’s not all smooth sailing. Sizing varies depending on the jeans style you choose. I’ve learned that the hard way when I first shopped with Zara online. If it’s your first time shopping at Zara and you haven’t visited their stores yet, you can check their size guide or see customer reviews to know what most shoppers have to say about their sizing.

How do Zara jeans fit?

Jeans are a tricky item to purchase. It often takes a long time to find the right size and fit, so if you’re ordering online, it’s always a good idea to order a couple of sizes to try at home if you can. While I love the styles available, Zara’s jeans sizes do run small and some are prone to stretching. One hot tip is to stick to those that are 100% cotton and size up, but even then you may need a good try on before finding the best fit.

More often than not, Zara’s jeans tend to fit best for girlies who are 5’5 and up. But if you’re petite, don’t give your hopes up just yet. Some say that Zara’s cropped jeans work pretty well. One Reddit reviewer says that she’s 5’3, and her Z1975 Mom-Fit high-waist jeans fit just right on her ankle. For more jeans options, here’s a genius hack from this Reddit reviewer: explore Zara’s kids section. With 5’2 height and a 24-25″ waist size, her Zara jeans fit like a glove. Kids’ sizes depend on age, so I recommend you shop between 11-12 years old (4’11 height) or 13-14 years old (5’4 height).

Zara jeans can also fit women with XXS sizes. According to this Reddit thread, Zara’s US 0 (translated to UK 4) or XXS sizes can fit girlies with a waist of 23.5″. Do note that the sizing varies depending on the style, so you need to consult their size guide first.

If you don’t know your size, Cheap Luxury Handbags ’s nifty guide to working out denim sizing will help you find out. But as Zara’s sizing can be confusing, I tried on 5 pairs of Zara jeans in the same size to see how they fit.

Does Zara do short length jeans?

Zara doesn’t offer various leg lengths in the way we’re used to (eg. 30″ length), but they do offer a number of cropped styles that work best for petite women such as the Z1975 Straight High-Waist, Straight-Leg High-Waist and Mom jeans. If you’re after a cropped look and are not considered petite, these can look cute on you too.

Review

Firstly I tried Zara’s high-rise jeans, but sadly these were too small. That said, I absolutely love the style and length of these. I’m 5″7 and these come up quite long, which make them ideal to wear with heeled boots. I found the shape really flattering too.

These jeans are available in 5 colors and they run from UK 4 to UK 18.

Fit

If you’re looking at any of Zara’s high-rise styles, I recommend sizing up. I’m a regular UK size 10, so expected these to fit and was sorely disappointed when I couldn’t do them up. As mentioned, they come up really long so these definitely won’t work for petite shapes.

Next up, I tried Zara’s mom jeans, which come in six colours and sizes from UK 4 to UK 18. I’m a huge fan of mom jeans at the best of times, but I would have preferred these to be a little looser fitting. It comes down to personal preference though, so if you prefer a tighter fit to hold you in in all the right places, you’ll love these!

Fit

Unlike some of the other pairs I tried on, these fit pretty well. They were quite tight, but with a bit of wear I’d say they’d give. You can buy these in your regular size – there’s no need to size up. They work great for petite women, since they lean on the cropped style.

Talk about leg lengthening! Zara’s flared jeans are a game changer. The high waist and flared leg elongate the body, giving you the appearance of super long legs. While the black has sold out, mid-blue and light blue colors are still up for grabs. Nonetheless, these are one of Zara’s bestselling jeans, so once the sale is over, you can expect the brand to restock.

Fit

These were surprisingly roomy. As jeans tend to stretch, I’d even suggest going down a size but as the style has changed, it may be worth trying a couple of sizes.

Review

I love high rise jeans as they hold in my tummy and make me feel supported. These are somewhere in-between skinny jeans and baggy styles, offering a slim fit but giving you room to move. They’re not the comfiest, but that’s to be expected with straight leg jeans. After a few wears, I’d expect these to loosen up too.

As of this writing, you can score a pair of these straight fit jeans in anthracite grey and blue colours and sizes UK 4 to UK 18.

Fit

I bought these in long length, but for context I’m 5″7 and these don’t seem to be super long. They fit really well in my regular UK size 10, so if you’re ordering a pair, I recommend sticking with your regular size.

Review

Zara’s Marine Straight continue to be one of Zara’s bestselling jeans. These come in a number of washes, from sand to black. These are my favourite jeans of the lot. The shape suits pretty much every shape, while they’re seriously comfy too thanks to the stretch.

Fit

The Marine straight fit so perfectly! These have plenty of stretch, so they may be prone to drooping (never a good look). If you’re in-between sizes, I recommend sizing down and letting them expand with wear.
