While we’re well and truly into the new autumn winter season, it’s never too late to discover all of the latest trends.

If the idea of dressing for winter is somewhat horrifying to you, I know exactly how you feel. But this season, I’m surprised to say that I’ve actually embraced the change.

The White Tank

Seen almost everywhere, the plain white tank is about to become your best friend.

This easy-to-wear trend is perhaps one of the biggest of the season, and Prada’s simple tank is now retailing at $1,000.

It comes as no surprise to see sequins on the catwalks for AW22.

The Oversized Blazer

The bigger, the better when it comes to your tailoring this season.

It’s not just big blazers that are trending. Workwear is finally back, so expect to see power suits and big shoulders once more.

The Fringe Dress

Fringing is one of those trends that always seems to sit on the perimeter, but this season it’s finally taking centre stage.

The trend appeared at Halpern, Erdem, Stella McCartney, Roksanda and Huishan Zhang to name a few, with models swishing their tasseled trousers, skirts, tops and dresses down the runways.

You can wear this trend any way you want, but possibly the easiest way is in the form of a fringed party dress. Here are our high street favourites.

The Bomber Jacket

Flight jackets are another of AW22’s most talked about pieces.

The Maxi Skirt

While micro minis have been trending for what feels like an eternity, maxi skirts are making a comeback now too.

The trend was seen at the Saint Laurent, Chanel, Dior and many more shows during Fashion Week, so if you’re less than thrilled about the re-emergence of skin-baring Y2K trends, try this one instead.

The Micro Mini

On the other end of the spectrum completely is the Y2K-favourite: the micro mini.

Yes, it was huge for SS22 but after they were spotted at Miu Miu, Chanel, 16Arlington, Coperni, Oscar De La Renta and David Koma’s AW22 shows to name a few, it’s clear the trend isn’t fading fast.

If you want to wear the trend but the idea of baring your legs is too much to bear, make like Coperni and wear yours with knee-high socks. Alternatively try tights, as soon at Chanel.

The Corset

I might have spoken too soon. Y2K fashion is going no where, and another of AW22’s most seen pieces was the mighty corset.

This is one garment I can get on board with. Not only is it wearable, but it’s versatile and – dare I say it – über flattering.

The Babydoll Dress

As the coquette trend explodes on social media, babydoll dresses with layers of lace and ruffles emerged on the catwalk.

Simone Rocha teamed hers with embellished tights, whilst Molly Goddard’s tulle creations were worn with flat brogues and boots for a masculine edge.

The Leather Jacket

With the rise of maximalist style and dopamine dressing, we’ve hit pause on biker jackets but I’m here to tell you they’re well and truly back.

It’s not just a jacket, it’s a lifestyle. Throw yours over pretty dresses to toughen up a look, or embrace the look wholeheartedly with ripped denim and trusty biker boots (more on those, below).

Animal Print

You might think animal print is so 5 seasons ago, but this season it’s making a comeback (not that it ever goes away for long).

This season, leopard seems to be the print of choice after it appeared on the runways at Dries Van Noten, Roberto Cavalli, Etro, Miu Miu, Stella McCartney and more.

If you want to try the trend, make it look luxurious with faux fur leopard print coats, satin and silk dresses and head-to-toe leopard – if you dare.

Barbiecore

If you haven’t yet heard about the Barbiecore trend sweeping the nation, lucky you!

Following the announcement of Hollywood movies Legally Blonde 3 and Barbie, the trend seems to have exploded – but it’s not just movies making their mark.

Valentino kicked off the trend for hot pink for AW22 with an almost entirely fuchsia collection, formulated by Pierpaolo Piccioli in collaboration with Pantone named Valentino Pink PP.

As well as Valentino, the trend was seen at Richard Quinn, Bora Aksu, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Molly Goddard.

The Western Boot

One trend I haven’t stopped seeing is the Western boot.

Seen at Vivienne Westwood, Ganni, Stella McCartney and more, it’s arguably the most wearable footwear trend of the season due to its versatility and the sheer number of options already available on the high street.

Team your cowboy boots with long skirts, tuck your trousers into them or opt for ankle styles that can be worn with anything. The sky’s the limit.

The Combat Boot

Chunky stomper boots have been trending for the last few seasons now, and no, they weren’t a waste of money; they’re going absolutely no where for AW22.

Follow Dior, Armani and Miu Miu’s suit and toughen up with a biker boot this winter.

The Thigh-High Boot

On the other end of the boot spectrum comes the thigh-high boot.

A slightly more wearable trend than pantaboots – trousers and boots in one – these glamorous boots are back.

Designers Bottega Veneta and Giambattista Valli teamed them with mini skirts and dresses, while Saint Laurent styled them more subtly with sheer maxi skirts.
