Next is known for its generous sales, so you’re probably wondering when the next discount event is set to start. Here, I’m sharing everything I know about the high street brand’s killer sales and when you can next expect to save your pennies on womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and more.

Next’s last big sale took place in March. VIPs were able to access the sale early, the rest of us had to wait – but boy, was it worth it. If you’re a fan of the brand, you probably already know how good their sales are, so it pays to be prepared. After all, there’s no point spending more than you need to, is there?

If you’re someone who prefers to shop IRL, you might have to navigate big queues. My best advice is to avoid the shops and head online, where you’ll find pretty much everything you could ever need anyway. Next does it all, including womenswear, menswear, kids clothes and even homeware – and it doesn’t scrimp on sale season. During some of their biggest discount events, you can expect to get discounts of , and when their prices are already seriously affordable, you can imagine how much more you can get for your money.

When does the Next sale start?

We’re predicting that Next’s summer sale will start from 2nd July for VIPs and 6th July for the rest of us. If you’re a VIP, you’re usually invited to book an early access slot to the brand’s sales, but for the rest of us, the sale starts a few days later. I’ll cover how you can become a VIP later in this article.

What’s a Next VIP slot?

Unlike most high street brands, Next has VIP slots as part of their sales. These give specific time slots to regular shoppers, allowing them to access the sale online before everyone else. If you’re lucky enough to be a VIP, you’re way more likely to pick up the pieces you’ve been after for a while without them selling out.

How to become a Next VIP

Sounds good, right? If you want to become a Next VIP, you need to be a loyal Next customer. Those who regularly shop at Next both online and in-store and have signed up to their loyalty program are prioritised and given early access to the sale.

To become a VIP, there are a few easy steps you can take.

1. Firstly, sign up to Next’s loyalty program, My Next Rewards. This gives you exclusive access to discounts and savings. Win, win!
2. Make sure you shop regularly. If you want to be given early access to sales, you’ll need to make sure you’re a regular shopper already. This sounds counterproductive, sure, but it’s worth it in the end.
3. Check your email. It sounds obvious, but if you avoid your emails, you might miss your slot!

How big are the discounts during the sales?

There’s a good reason for those queues. While the discounts change depending on the season, Next is known for being quite generous during the sales. You can expect to save up to 70% during their biggest sale events, although the mid-season sale has discounts of around 50% off.

As well as the sale, you need to check out Next’s clearance section. With thousands upon thousands of pieces included across every category, you’re not exactly short of choice. This section updates every day at 4.30am (apart from on Sundays), so keep tabs on it if there’s an item you’re lusting after in particular. Most items are half price or less.

Then there’s the Next Outlets, which are definitely worth checking out if your preference is to shop in person. Located across the country, you can find current and past seasons pieces at 50% off and sometimes even more.

What are the biggest sale dates of the year?

It’s well known that Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year, but that doesn’t make it the best. In fact, Which? analysed the prices of 213 products from Black Friday 2021 and found that 98% of deals were cheaper or the same price at other times of the year.

The same can’t be said for Boxing Day. You’re much more likely to get a good deal after Christmas, as this is when many brands offer the biggest discounts of the year. Next offers great summer and winter sales.

Next sale dates 2024 – our predictions

Spring: VIP access from 13th March. For everyone else, the sale started on 16th March.

Summer: VIP access from 2nd July. For everyone else, the sale will start on 6th July.

Autumn: VIP access from 17th September. For everyone else, the sale will start on 21st September.

Boxing Day: VIP access from 21st December. For everyone else, the sale will start on 24th December.
