Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that there are some incredible fashion and beauty deals for Black Friday – including those at Arket’s sister brands COS, Monki and H&M.

Arket doesn’t come cheap, so if you’ve been holding off from buying an item on your wish list, you might be able to reap the benefits in November. The brand has grown quite a following of fans who appreciate the brand’s simple style and sustainable approach. It positions itself as a lifestyle brand that wants to ‘inspire people to live a more sustainable lifestyle,’ encouraging shoppers to shop smarter, not harder and to invest in long-lasting and versatile pieces.

H&M’s sister brand may offer its pieces at a higher price point than its more popular sibling, but it does make up for it in quality. The materials are sturdier, the quality is better — the pieces feel a bit like a small investment rather than a fast fashion purchase.

What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is a once yearly event, when fashion and beauty (as well as homeware, tech and more) brands generously offer significant discounts on their products for a limited time only. This fantastic shopping event takes place on the last Friday in November, right after Thanksgiving. It’s the perfect opportunity for eager shoppers to get a head start on their Christmas shopping. The name “Black Friday” is symbolic of the positive shift from financial losses to profits for retailers thanks to the remarkable sales volume during this period.

When is Black Friday?

Black Friday takes place on the last Friday of November each year. In 2024, that’s 29th November. Cyber Monday then takes place the following Monday, which lands on December 2nd, 2024.

Will Arket take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Our prediction

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s unlikely that Arket will take part in Black Friday this year. The brand hasn’t joined in over the last few years, so we wouldn’t expect them to in 2024.

While many brands have given customers an insight into their plans for Black Friday (like Other Stories), Arket has made no mention of it which leads us to believe they won’t be taking part in 2024. H&M now sells Arket on its website, so there’s a small chance they will offer discounts across the website. If anything changes, we’ll let you know by updating this article. It’s not all bad news, as the brand instead opting offers huge discounts during the Boxing Day and January sales, and they often offer a small sale section during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday period anyway.

Which brands are taking part?

If you love Arket, you’ll be glad to know that its sister brand COS takes part, which offers similarly stylish pieces to Arket. More brands under the H&M group take part, like H&M and Other Stories, while Monki tends to opt out. Zara will also take part, offering rare discounts for a limited time only.

As consumers are becoming savvier to the impact of overconsumption on our environment and the individuals working to produce garments, many brands have decided to boycott Black Friday this year.

We’re expecting this to include brands Monki and Next, both of which opted out of Black Friday in 2020.

While we don’t condone overspending, we do want fashion to be accessible to those on a low budget, as well as those who struggle to shop sustainably due to size constraints.

We love fashion and the freedom of self-expression it brings and understand you’re going to want to shop the sales. We encourage you to be mindful of your spending and avoid buying items you’re probably going to discard of in a year’s time.

Shop smarter, not harder, this Black Friday. Ensure you’re not overspending by setting yourself a budget beforehand and creating a wish list of items you actually need rather than want – including Christmas gifts for others – if you are going to spend.
